Alpine MDF Industries Ltd is a manufacturer and supplier of highest quality MDF. The plant is located in the north-east industrial estate near Wangaratta and was commissioned in 1996. In December 2002 the business was purchased by a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sumitomo Forestry Company Ltd of Tokyo, Japan.
The Sumitomo Forestry Company was established in Japan in 1691, in the field of mineral exploration. The company was incorporated in 1948 and is now one of Japan’s largest timber related and housing businesses.
The Sumitomo Forestry Company also owns Nelson Pine Industries in New Zealand, which manufactures MDF and LVL, and has other wood processing investments in Indonesia manufacturing particle board, plywood, and added value products.
The Alpine MDF brand is recognised as a superior quality product in Australia and overseas markets.
